Introducing Culture Cartel

Culture Cartel, Singapore’s first all-encompassing street culture festival, will premiere this year end, from 1-2 December 2018, at the F1 Pit Building.

Created by Habitual, Culture Cartel comes at a time when Andy Warhol and KAWS have become household names, when a music playlist includes Beastie Boys and Post Malone, and when a shoe collection includes everything from Air Jordans to Yeezys. It is now that we are reaping the creative aftermath of broken down stereotypes that the generation before had to endure, from body tattoos to graffiti as vandalism to the exclusion of black culture.

More so than any other part of the world, Southeast Asia, and especially Singapore, we are no stranger to harmonious diversity. Hence, we readily embrace foreign culture and further adapt it to our own liking. This has resulted in the birth of many significant but niche fairs in the region — we say, it’s about time we come together to share, to create, to collaborate.

Culture Cartel is set to unite the street culture world together over one jam-packed weekend in a convention that will feature the convergence of three main sectors — ART, TOYS and STREETWEAR. In showcasing the best that street culture in Southeast Asia and the world has to offer, we seek not only to satisfy multiple interests at one go, but at the same time, bring borders closer together — while you may be drawn in because of streetwear, just take a few steps and find yourself in the street art world.
